ST. VINCENT BREWERY

When world renowned German Brewery Haase Brauerei went lookingfor a Caribbean island to establish a brewery, they found the perfect location in St. Vincent & the Grenadines. They fell in love with the island's rich history, its people, and their unique way of life. Above all, St. Vincent & the Grenadines was the perfect location because it was flowing with soft, crystal-clear, spring water a prerequisite for good beer. The two cultures were blended together and St. Vincent Brewery Limited a public company was created.

Disigned to appeal

The company began operations in June 1985 with a portfolio of brands that was designed to appeal to the Vincentain consumer style, taste and preference. The Brewery began to produce, market, and sell high-quality beer, stout, malta and soft drinks to the local Vincentain market as well as to the Caribbean region, North America and Europe.

Technical excellence and good quality products

Haase Brauerei, which was later renamed Brauhaase International Management GmbH maintained a strong presence providing full technical and commercial support and under their tutelage the brewery grew and quickly established a reputation for technical excellence and good quality products. At its inception the company's product portfolio consisted of Hairoun Lager, Hairoun Malta, Hairoun Bitter Lemon, Hairoun Soda Water, Hairoun Ginger Ale and Hairoun Tonic Water. Hairoun Lager the flagship brand immediately became the top selling beer brand in the local market and won several prestigious awards with gold medals in 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1993.

Expanding

The Company began expanding and new and international brands were gradually added to the product portfolio. The Brewery began brewing Guinness Stout in 1986 and this was followed with the production of Eku Bavaria and Guinness Malta in 1987. Further expansion resulted in the exporting of Hairoun lager and Eku Bavaria in draught and bottles to neighboring markets such as Barbados, St. Lucia and Grenada.

International recognition

Growth continued as the Brewery added a new brand Vitamalt, which it began brewing in 1992. The bottling of Cocktail de Fruits followed in 1993 and the Coca-Cola and Fanta brands were added to the portfolio in 1994. The Brewery was increasingly establishing a reputation of excellence, among its consumers, and was gaining international recognition for the quality of its brands.

Recipient of major awards

After a decade of continuous development, the company was therefore poised for the challenges of the new millennium. Tremendous strides in the area of quality resulted in the company being the recipient of major awards. In 1988 Hairoun Bitter Lemon was awarded a gold medal by Monde Selection in Athens, Greece, while in 1989 Hairoun Ginger Ale captured a gold medal in London, England. Today, the company continues with its unwavering commitment to using only the finest ingredients and time-proven methods to brew and bottle some of the best brands in the region.
